PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
These sleeves are fit for a Medieval or Renaissance lady (just picture them paired with a corset and chemise!), and would even look good as part of a modern look (with, say a black shirt and jeans) when you want something with a little bit of a costume/fantasy look.
I made these sleeves for an online group challenge of "books"; unfortunately, I didn't finish them in time, but I *am* fortunate because a later challenge was "movies". My favorite movies and books are the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, especially "The Two Towers", and since Eowyn is one of my favorite characters, I decided to make something in a style that she would wear. The little white flowers are my version of Simbelmyne, the flower that grows on the tombs of Rohan.
The sleeves are crocheted from soft black acrylic yarn, and they have a trim on the bottom of off-white wool (or alpaca? It came from northstaralpacas.etsy.com) with a string of shiny gold tinsel-type thing in it. The flowers are crocheted from white cotton crochet thread (and are sewn onto the sleeves- there's one tiny part where I was trying out fabric glue behind it [the inside of the bell], but it's not noticeable. This is just a heads up so you know it's there), and the flowers and the sleeves have silver dots of fabric paint to give the sleeves some extra shine. The top of the sleeves lace up with white ribbon, so they can be tightened to fit a smaller sized arm. The good thing about crochet is that it can also stretch a bit to fit a larger size, too.
The upper arm (where the ribbon lacing is) is about 8 3/4" (22.2 cm) around. It's about 8"(20.3 cm) at the wrist, and the flair of the sleeves is about 23" (58.4 cm). They're 11 1/4" (28.6 cm) long from top of the sleeve to the bottom of the bell.
I'd recommend handwashing these in cool water, because of the wool on the trim.
