At Petite Tuques you will find hand knitted hats, mittens, scarfs and other accessories. I use wool and cotton and every item can be customized for adult sizes. My hats can used as photo props as well as cute everyday wear!

I am a mother of two small boys, and they help a lot in the process, from trying on and modeling the hats, to picking up the bits of yarn and playing with the "snakes"...

I'm located in the Eastern Townships of Quebec "La Belle Province", so I know all about cold weather.

Due to the stretchiness of knitted hats, here are my hat sizes according to age
Usually the hat size will be *2 inches* less than the actual head size.

Age Hat
newborn 12 inches
3-6 m 14 inches
1-2 yr 16 inches
3-4 yr 18 inches
5-teen 19.5 inches
Adult small 21 inches
Adult medium 22.5 inches

I’ve been asked by some, what is a tuque? So I thought I’d write up some fun facts.
1. A Tuque is a hat.
2. Tuques started out as a hat made of velvet, worn by women in the 12th century.
3. Tuque can spelled three different ways: tuque, toque, touque.
4. There is a town called La Tuque, Quebec
5. There is a website called Tuques.com
6. A red tuque became a symbol of French-Canadian pride
7. Michael J Fox said during the Olympic closing ceremony “ If I have a bad hair day, I wear a tuque"
8. There is a hat called Took, which has headphones built inside!
